Our History
In high school, Spencer Thompson noticed a pattern among his classmates when it came to post-graduation plans: they made choices based upon what family or friends thought they should do, rather than their intrinsic passions, capabilities, or potential.
In 2012, Spencer founded Sokanu to solve this problem. He partnered with PhD career psychologists to reinvent the standard career test and launched what would become CareerExplorer — a world-class career platform powered by modern science and technology.
Today, CareerExplorer is the world’s most comprehensive source of career data and information, with over 1,000 profession and degree profiles, up-to-date labor market data, how-to guides, expert interviews, and more.
